I couldn't decide on gas or charcoal. I've got my bro who has a kamado, singing praises of charcoal grilling and smoking on one side and my bro-in-law with his weber gas grill basically cooking on the grill everyday over the summer with the convenience and cleanliness of gas. I watched video after video online and both have their merits. IF ONLY THERE WAS A WAY TO HAVE BOTH!!!
Thank you COSMOGRILL for the DUO Dual Fuel Barbecue!
Both the gas burners and charcoal grill are fantastic. It even has an offset smoker which competitors do not have. (I was seriously considering an American offset smoker BBQ having researched BBQs over the summer and therefore a charcoal BBQ. I've never done offset smoking before, but there are some fantastic videos online and getting started was easy. Having used the offset smoker on this Cosmogrill, I am able to achieve smoky steaks which my friends and family love using hickory or apple wood. The integrated chimney on the charcoal grill makes looking for that perfect "clear blue" smoke easy. Tip: use a bluetooth meat temperature probe to help achieve perfect steaks to your liking and use a "grate-level" temperature probe as the temperature gauge on the lid which all similar BBQs use only give the temp of the main chamber which is not accurate enough for certain meat recipes, but this is the same across all BBQs). The gas grill works well and is perfect for burgers, sausages, toasting baps etc whilst the pièce de résistance is smoking away on the other side.
The BBQ was easy to build between my Dad and I. Probably took an hour. I did think during the build if I was doing it on my own it would be slightly tricky and probably take me twice as long. Doable, but just realise that. You need a good bit of open space and the bare basics of tools. The BBQ looks fantastic, looks professional and it is a monster. Lots of compliments from my friends, and even more so for the food! The BBQ only had one tiny scuff on the offset smoker on delivery but otherwise perfect. Delivery was next day as advertised. Wow.
It is a Dual fuel BBQ Grill at the end of the day. It is very good at both, probably not the best at either e.g. for a pit master, but for your typical 30-40 yo Dad with 1.7 kids, its damn near perfect.
